Greetings to all present and former members of the AGO Queens Chapter, as well as friends and supporters. As the new Dean of the AGO Queens Chapter, I would like to announce the starting of our 60th anniversary season. Yes, it was in February 1957 that the Queens chapter was recognized by the American Guild of Organists.
So, in light of that, I would like to extend a “thank you” to all those members who have renewed their membership, and an invitation to anyone who has not renewed, to please consider rejoining in this anniversary year. Of course, new members, friends and supporters are always welcome.
Our first event is the annual “welcome back” September Social. This year, the event will be held at:
The First Presbyterian Church of Newtown on Monday evening, September 26, at 7:00 pm. The pastor, Rev. Dr. Annette I. Westermark, has graciously accepted the position of Chaplain for our chapter and will be hosting the event at her church. The event will be catered. Anyone who is interested in rejoining can do so at the “welcome back” event.
Please come and share your ideas, suggestions, or concerns for the new season. We are also looking for people to be a part of an “event planning” committee, or if you would be interested, to offer a place to host such events.
The address is:
54-05 Seabury St., Elmhurst, NY 11373. It is located near Queens Blvd., and 54th Ave. There is a small parking lot on the church property and there is also street parking available. The M and R subways have a stop right in front of the church. The Queens Blvd. buses also stop at the church. Full directions are on the church's website as well as the phone number and address.
